Area's Largest Spring Craft Show Returns April 18-20, 2008

The 22nd Annual Virginia Beach Spring Craft Market produced by Events Management Group (EMG) will feature 200 artists and craftspeople from 25 states. Just in time for fresh spring decorating, Mother’s Day gift-buying and summer fashions, the Convention Center will be transformed into a festive marketplace bustling with over 10,000 enthusiastic shoppers looking for a diverse selection of traditional and contemporary artworks. From the twenty-somethings to the baby-boomers, there’s something unique and extraordinary for every taste and budget.

Featured artisans will offer pottery, jewelry, fine arts, stained glass, wood, baskets, photography, fiber arts, apparel and many more handcrafted items. Spring specialties will consist of wrought iron, seasonal wreaths, garden statuary, birdhouses, handmade pet treats and accessories, outdoor furniture, wind chimes and fresh herbs.

Notable new artists and returning favorites include:

Olde Good Things: Salvaged architectural elements re-purposed for home decor

H2Optics: Stunning underwater photography by Chuck Botts

E.I. Designs by Sara Hunter: A Virginia Beach local with bold and whimsical pottery and paintings

How Charming: Sea glass jewelry by Cindy Malone

Fru Fru Girlz: Cigar box purses by Jan Kirvin

Wolf Run Studio: Bill Harrah's finely-detailed drawings of Mid-Atlantic colleges, historic sites, animals and scenery

Specialty food creators presenting tasty handmade edibles will offer Belgian chocolates, almond pound cakes, homemade jams and jellies, party dips, fudge, marinades, Italian sauces, soups and spicy salsas. New this year for our four-legged friends, Annie's Pooch Pops will offer Doggy Wines such as Pinot Leasheo, Barkundy and their 2006 Sauvignon Bark.

In addition, the "Heritage Celebration!" area will showcase local craft designers and guilds with enlightening educational demonstrations to broaden awareness and appreciation of American Craft history, technique and design. Some of this year's participating guilds include:

  • Tidewater Beekeepers Association

  • Chesapeake Bay Art Association

  • Ceramic Designers Association

  • Tidewater Knitting Guild

  • Tidewater Basketry Guild

  • Tidewater Quilters Guild

  • Tidewater Carvers and Whittlers

  • Tidewater Turners

  • And more

This popular event is also a major contributor to the Food Bank of Southeastern Virginia. By offering 50 cents off admission with a canned food donation, EMG has contributed well over 100,000 pounds of food to the foodbank.
